A marvellous book packed with sound advice and insight which is suitable for anyone embarking on business in today's digital economy. The book is well organised in a manner that allows the reader to dip into relevant sections quickly to draw inspiration on demand making it a handy companion.
One of the best and most honest evaluations of how to successfully do business in today’s digital environment. Hudson-Searle captures critical concepts such as learning to be comfortable ‘in the drops,’ the powerful impact of one human moment of interaction, and an entrepreneurial shift in mindset to ‘running experiments,’ and lays them out as signposts on the pathway of creating extraordinary value. Highly recommended!
Not only does Geoff go in depth about how to converse through various mediums as a business, but he does it quite effectively himself. A feat that is no easy task when communication is only about 7% the words used. The content structure alone is something that grabbed my attention. He makes very succinct and logical statements and packaged them in short chapters. It's like reading a powerpoint presentation without the visual cues the information sticks with you because of how it's broken up and organized.
Geoff brings to attention that we are losing touch with one another by relying solely on technology to communicate for us, impressing upon us that those face-to-face meetings are all that more important, giving service to the quality of our conversations.
In addition to key concepts while communicating, Geoff explores the necessity of businesses to embrace change and innovation something that is difficult to communicate outside of the IT world. The companies that stay on top are the ones that evolve with their consumer base, and it's important to connect with that consumer base to learn where the next stepping stone on the business path leads.
I can say that I've read many wonderful books on leadership and business and this ranks well among them. Meaningful Conversations will always have a place on my shelf, and is in my top 10 to recommend for associates that are new to the business world as well as seasoned professionals. I can't wait to see more from him.
